If you've been in church for any amount if time you've probably heard a sermon preached on not being a stumbling block; a cause of downfall for someone else.
As I was reading today I found something really interesting that I want to share with you, different way of thinking on that subject!
Romans 14:13 reads ~Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.
In reading that does it stand to reason that a major cause of the stumbling block is our judgment on someone else? The church world can so easily become a place of judgment instead of a place of comfort and growth, as God intended it to be, and our judgment may cause someone else to stumble. Our judgment may cause someone else to stop and say " I want no part of church, no part of being a Christian and no part of Jesus."
Then I came across another interesting verse and it all came together for me .....reads “See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame.” (Romans 9:33 NIV)
Do you see it yet? Here are my thoughts...THE ONLY stumbling block that should ever be placed in the path of someone else is Jesus!! He is the stumbling block and wants us to move ourselves out of the way with our judgments or anything else so that He can place himself on the path!!!
With our lives we either present Jesus in a way that causes people to stumble due to our judgement, and this is what we are warned against, or we present Jesus in a way that causes someone to stumble into the undeniable love, peace, joy and contentment that is Jesus!
See the connection yet?!
This isn't talking about cleaning up our lives in such a way that when others look at us they see perfection, therefore our lives will cause someone not to stumble.
The stumbling block is and was always meant to be Jesus!! When you stumble into Jesus, you cannot help but be changed and feel and know his love!!
So I implore you to remove your stumbling blocks of judgment and become a stumbling block of love, joy, peace and acceptance so that when people run into you they run into Jesus!!!!!!!!
Love you friends!!!!
