Remove The Mask

'Love others well, and don't hide behind a mask; love authentically.'Romans 12:9
What does that look like to you? What relationship are you being asked to lower your mask and love authentically?!
If everyone became just a little more real and didn't hide behind the multiple masks we place before us everyday and opened our real selves up to others what change could take place?!

-If that mom knew that you too struggle to keep it all together, could this possibly result in an encouraging relationship for each other?
-If that kid at school knew that you too get bullied and need a friend could it possibly result in a lasting friendship?
-If your friend who had a rough marriage but worked at it and now it's amazing knew that you were struggling right now in your marriage could it possibly lead to amazing change in your own life?
-If that guy that you look up to knew the struggle that you faced behind closed doors could it possibly result in a breakthrough mentoring relationship?

If we all took one moment today to lower our masks to be vulnerable and love authentically how different could our lives and the depths of our relationships be?!
It's in being real and authentic with others that people feel safe to also be real and authentic with us!
I hope you have an amazing day today and know this, no matter what you are incredibly cherished and loved!! Whether you choose to remove the mask or keep it up Jesus sees you just as you are and loves you completely!!

He Sees You, He Hears You

Have you been waiting for a breakthrough? Are you tired of a continuous cycle that you can't seem to get off of? Do you not know how or what to pray anymore?
Let this encourage you....
'Meanwhile the moment we get tired in the waiting. Gods Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps is present before God. That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.' Romans 8:26-28
Tired mama, He sees you, He hears you!
Stressed out dad, He sees you, He hears you!
Lonely, heartbroken one, He sees you, He hears you!
Frustrated, ready to give up He sees you, He hears you!!
Struggling with fear and depression, He sees you, He hears you!
Wherever you are, whatever you are facing place your trust in Him, only He can work it ALL into something good!!
Love you friends!!

Offence a Big Deal?

Becoming offended is a huge deal!! Let me share a little story with you. There was a man named Naaman who was a general in the kings army he had great importance to his master but he suffered greatly from a skin disease.
One of the young maids told him of a prophet who could heal him of this disease.
So he set out to find this prophet, once found the prophet sent out one of his helpers with a message that he should go immerse himself in the river seven times and his skin would be good as new.
Naaman then became greatly offended, not only was he not greeted by the prophet himself, he was now being told to go bathe seven times in, by his opinion, not a nice river when he expected to just have a hand waved over the diseased spot and it would be done.
He got so offended he stormed off willing to leave the possibility of healing behind.
Thankfully wisdom in the form of a travelling companion spoke to him and said "if he had asked you to do something hard and heroic, wouldn't you have done it? So why not the simple wash and be clean?"
So HE DID IT! Was healed completely.
It really stood out to me how he nearly missed it because he was offended!! He didn't like being greeted by the messenger instead of the prophet and he sure didn't want to bathe in a dirty river!
How often do we secretly get offended by God because He isn't answering and waving his hand in the way that we thought He would! Truth be told there are so many ways we can become offended by God.
Thankfully we serve an incredibly loving God who sends us a voice of wisdom. He doesn't give up on us, even when we feel so offended we are willing to walk away from it all, He lovingly sends His Holy Spirit and His Word to get us to look at things a little differently.
He can handle our fears and our doubts and even our offence but the scary part is when we let the offence turn our hearts away from God.
We are told over and over in scripture to guard our hearts and one way to guard it is to keep it from offence.
With an open trusting relationship with God this is possible. Spend time with Him today tell Him how you really feel ( it's not like it's a secret from Him anyway) release the fear, the offence, the bitterness and allow Him to heal you in whatever area you need!
As you spend time with Him you begin to know and trust His heart and this my friends is a beautiful thing!
Will you join me on this adventure today?!

Can I Truly Be Loved?

Ever had any of these thoughts?
-I'm too broken and messed up to be loved.
-If someone knew my hidden secret they couldn't possibly love me anymore.
-If someone knew what I was actually thinking they would no longer accept me.
-If people only knew the questions I asked in my head they wouldn't look at me the same way.
-I don't know if I can really believe in all this God and Jesus stuff.
I think if we are completely honest with ourselves we can fall into any one of these areas.
What if I told you that through all these and in spite all of these questions whatever they may be God loves you!!
Some may have been told...'get your act together, only then can you go to Jesus'...yet He says ' come to me and I will give you rest.'
See He knows there are things we will face and things we will walk through in life that will feel overwhelming and impossible. He doesn't expect you to clean yourself up before you come to him anymore than we'd expect a baby to feed and diaper itself.
It's only with him that change of any kind is possible. He can handle your anger, even if you are blaming Him for something in your life, He can handle your fear, your unbelief, your questions, doubts, your 'unseen' issues. He truly can handle and help in and through it all!
Don't be afraid of coming to Him just as you are, ask's okay... in laying ALL the pieces in front Him it's then that we can truly start to be put together and walk in the amazing plans He has for us.
We will never truly arrive, there will always be more 'stuff' to walk through but we can be sure in and through it all we were never meant to walk it alone!!
You have not fallen too far or made too many mistakes , there is nothing you could do for Him to ever turn His back on you!
Just as you are!

God made my life complete when I placed all the pieces before him. Psalm 18:20

Will Spring Ever Arrive?!

Again temperatures have plunged here in the north! We had a day here and there where it was warm and I really thought spring had arrived and then another dumping of snow and cold. It has us all wondering will spring ever arrive?!
Life seems to have those same cycles. I know for myself like anticipating spring, I am anticipating breakthrough in certain areas. I think I am doing really well and headed in the right direction when WHAM something sends me scattering. I'm left with a feeling of hopelessness thinking I will never truly break through, just like a few extra days of cold can feel.
Like our winter, it's easy to believe we will be stuck in this cycle forever.
Yet we KNOW Spring is an eventuality and God well He is a sure thing!
So if you are facing something that seems to never end whether you are facing the same circumstance over and over, stuck in brokenness & feeling some sort of hopelessness you've got to keep believing breakthrough, like spring, is coming!
With every fresh new warm day comes a fresh renewal from our King of Kings who has the ability to breathe fresh new vision and hope into truly any situation!
I pray that whatever you are facing today you keep looking up! You are never without hope just as we have never been without a spring, sometimes we just gotta be patient!!!
Love you friends!

You did it: you changed wild lament into whirling dance; You ripped off my black mourning band and decked me with wildflowers. I’m about to burst with song; I can’t keep quiet about you. God, my God, I can’t thank you enough. (Psalm 30:11, 12 MSG)

For God So Loved

We have heard this verse a million times over and over again it is probably one of the most popular verses we see. It's at sports games and on signs etc.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only son that who so ever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life John 3:16...
This verse is not only a great sign for us to see how much God loved us that He gave His son Jesus for us so that we could spend eternity with Him but I believe also this verse is a call to action.
Let me tell you why....God so loved that He GAVE... You've often heard the saying 'actions speak louder than words', there is tremendous truth in that. What is God asking you to give in love today; your time to serve Him, finances to help someone in need, clothing or groceries to help someone going through a rough time, visit an elderly neighbour? There are so many different ways to show love!
Not only is this a call to action on our parts to give love as He gave but also to sacrifice as He sacrificed. He gave us His greatest gift, His only son!! I cannot imagine surrendering my son knowing He would be beaten and bruised and ultimately sacrificed for the human race, yet God knew this would benefit us so greatly because the outcome was so great!! Opportunity to spend eternity with Him.
So the second part of this is,what are you being asked to give up? Even if it's temporarily so that the ultimate return would be a closer relationship with God.
He may be asking you to give something up that has become an addiction therefore it has stolen time and focus away from Him. He may be asking you to give up tv to spend more time with Him, or certain foods, or even a relationship that is pulling you away from God.
All these things He may be asking you to give up are not to hurt you, although the process may be painful, He would only ever ask us to give up or sacrifice something because He already sees the benefit, He already sees the great reward of the sacrifice.
So the two questions I am asking of myself today and I'm hoping you will join me are
1) What can I give, what can I do to show love?
2) What am I being asked to give up or sacrifice completely to grow in my relationship with Him?
Not easy questions but questions that can yield such an amazing opportunity for growth and closeness with Him.

Lord as we take this step in asking you these two questions I know you are faithful and when you ask of us you also provide for us a way to see this through! We ask for your strength, your guidance and your direction as we take this step of faith trusting you every step of the way!
In Jesus name, Amen!

The Greatest Purpose of All

"If I gave you a vision so big you knew it could never be completed in your lifetime would you still be faithful to do your part?"
This is a question I believe being asked of all of us today.
In a day and age where many are caught up in 'what is my purpose' ' what am I put on this earth to do' it can so easily become a selfish train of thought that leads to our own greatness.
When God is in fact asking us to each do our part in the greatest vision of all and that is to seek and save that which is lost, to make disciples in all nations, to show love and shine our light in the darkness.
Will there be opportunity for greatness? Absolutely, but that should never be the focus. The focus has always and will always be to make His name great!
We do have a plan and a purpose for our life and instead of getting caught up in the specific end goal of what that may be, trust that you are living it right now!
Every moment of every day is part of our purpose in using our lives to point to the King of Kings.
How will you show and be love today?
