Run the Race

~In the Olympics the athletes display such perseverance, dedication and drive to hopefully see themselves on the podium!
We are called to the same thing as believers in Jesus! To run the race of life with our eye on the prize never wavering in our determination to see His name lifted high!
Check this out;

Such a large crowd of witnesses is all around us! So we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially the sin that just won't let go. And we must be determined to run the race that is ahead of us. We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete. He endured the shame of being nailed to a cross, because he knew later on he would be glad he did. Now he is seated at the right side of God's throne! So keep your mind on Jesus, who put up with many insults from sinners. Then you won't get discouraged and give up. (Hebrews 12:1-3 CEVDCUS06)

Keep on keeping on even when times are tough, He has already paved the way for you and is cheering you on every step of the way!!!
Love you friends! Have a great weekend!

Light, Space, Zest

LIGHT, SPACE, ZEST

No this is not an advertisement for the latest cleaning product but rather a unique little glimpse into who God is....

Light is defined as the natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible or the understanding of a problem or mystery....Jesus who is with us every step of the way longing to be our help our great mystery solver and give us sight when we feel lost and wants to bring the light of his presence to even the darkest of circumstances!!
Space is defined as a continuous area or expanse that is free, available or unoccupied. The dimensions of height, depth, width within which all things exist and move....Jesus is always available, you have never gone or will ever go to a place that He cannot reach you with His love, you are not worthless, you are not unreachable, you are not a hopeless person in a hopeless situation. With Him is freedom!
Zest is defined as great enthusiasm, energy, passion, fervour and zeal along with many others.....Jesus is passionate about you! His energy and zeal to love you NEVER stops, He has never left your side even though it may feel that way! He never grows tired and He is never weary!!
Now you may say, well these definitions are all fine and good but is it really about God?! Let me share this verse with you!!

Light, Space, Zest-
that's God!
So with him by my side I'm fearless,
afraid of no one and nothing.
Psalm 27:1 (MSG)

There it is He is all these things and so much more! I pray you feel and know His love today in some tangible way that speaks to your heart!!
Love you friends! Have a great day!!

The hope in this is that there is hope, live FULLY right where you are at !! It doesn't mean you will stay there! God knows the desires of your heart and trust that He will make a way as only He can!!

He knows Your Name

When a child is born what is the first question we generally ask once we know it's a boy or a girl....what is the name?
As parents deciding a name for our child starts early on in pregnancy tossing names back and forth. Much time is spent deciding on the perfect name. We look into meanings of the names and if we knew anybody by that name and what they were like. The name is an important decision because it is what that child will be called for the rest of their lives.
Did you know that God has also named you, He knows who you are and calls you by name!
Check out these verses 'You were lost sheep with no idea who you were or where you were going. Now you're NAMED and kept for good by the Shepherd of your souls.' 1Peter2:25MSG
'Don't be afraid I have redeemed you, I have called you by NAME.' Isaiah 43:1

So as you walk through today don't forget how precious you are, you are no longer just another number in a faceless, nameless crowd.
You are named, seen and loved by the King of Kings. Long before you were even born He had a purpose and plan for your life.
Ask Him today what He calls you and I can guarantee He is faithful to respond. Don't be surprised when you hear words like loved, beautiful, special, victorious, overcomer, beloved....
Take some time today...freely ask, then listen!!
He loves you so....
Love you friends!!
Have a great day!

As Good as Dead

How many would like to have a baby when they are in their 100s? Not many of us I'm sure, but in this case this child was so wanted!!! Abraham was promised that his descendants would number as many as the stars in the sky and this dude was OLD!!! And his wife Sarah also way past child bearing age.

I LOVE how the Bible talks about his faith during this time.

'His faith did not fail, although he was well aware that his impotent body, nearly after 100 years, was as good as dead and that Sarah's womb too, was dead.
In spite of ALL this, his faith in Gods promise did not falter.
In fact his faith grew as he gave glory to God because he was supremely confident that GOD WOULD DELIVER ON HIS PROMISE.'

I love how real this is, he was very aware of all that was against him, it was glaringly obvious, yet as he gave glory to God his confidence grew!!!
What in your life is as good as dead, what do you see in your life daily that seems to be without hope? Give it over to God and then give glory to God knowing He can do only what He can do and make the impossible possible!!
We all have areas of a struggle and difficult things we face, DON'T GIVE UP!!
Keep on the road with Jesus because in Him there is SO MUCH HOPE!!!Keep on the road with Jesus because in Him there is SO MUCH HOPE!!! We too can become supremely confident! I don't know about you but that paints an incredibly hopeful picture!!
DON'T GIVE UP, JUST GIVE IT UP TO HIM!!

Where is My Focus?

Looking through a camera lens focusing on a beautiful flower I hold the button halfway down to perfect the focus and then click. Got the flower perfectly captured.
I can choose to focus on whatever I want with my camera and perfect the clarity and capture it forever in memory.
Did you know our minds are the same way? Whatever we focus on becomes a real vivid clear picture in our mind, this can be a positive or negative thing.
We can easily become so focused on all our problems that they are all we see. When we have problem tunnel vision we see nothing else and easily become overwhelmed.
This doesn't mean that we ignore our problems but just as capturing the perfect picture it's the best with amazing lighting. What better lighting than having the light and love of Jesus shine on your situation you can be guaranteed you will see things differently and with Him by your side you can walk through any situation.
We must lift our eyes off our problems and onto Jesus our hope.
So as you go through your day today think about what you are focusing on and invite Jesus to bring light to any and every situation you are facing!

You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant PEACE whose mind is STAYED on You, because he COMMITS himself to You, LEANS on You, and HOPES confidently in You. (Isaiah 26:3 AMP) (emphasis mine)

I invite you into my day today Jesus I know that my only hope is in you. As I'm facing some tough circumstances today I pray that you bring clarity to my mind, help me to know the next step to take and above all else fill me with your perfect peace as I choose to focus on you!
Amen

The Princess and The Super-Hero

Most every child at some point wishes to be a princess if they are a girl,a knight or some kind of super hero if they are a boy.
I often joke with my parents that I'm adopted and that I'm actually the child of royalty and what better place to hide me than Blumenort, I mean who would look for me there right?!
Yeah they aren't too convinced, probably something to do with how much I look like my dad. :S
I believe each one of us male or female have a longing to be deeply loved with a love so deep that we feel as though we are worth being rescued and fought for. We would also love some supernatural strength like a super hero to fight our battles.
Well guess what, we are all worth the fight and there is an abundance of supernatural strength that we can have!!
That's why I love this passage it paints a great picture of a relationship with God.
"I love you, God- you make me strong. God is bedrock under my feet,
the castle in which I live,
my rescuing knight.
My God - the high crag where I run for dear life, hiding behind the boulders, safe in the granite hideout.....
A hostile world! I call to God,
I cry to God to help me.
From his palace he hears my call;
my cry brings me right into his presence - a private audience! '

He is the castle in which I live....what does a castle generally consist of ?! Strong fortified walls, a moat to keep thieves out and guards protecting the gate as well as some knights to fight anyone off should they get to close to the children of the king.
That is you and I, each one of us. You are His child, the child of the King of Kings. In Him you have a sure thing. Just as a good King would lay down his life to save the his family the great King has already laid down His life for you so that you could spend eternity in His care.
He is a strong fortress. No matter what you are facing you can take it to Him today and you can rest knowing you are safe in His care, you have a private audience with the King of Kings!!
If you need strength for your day to fight some battles ahead He promises to make you strong, there is supernatural strength that you have in Him. His strength is made perfect in your weakness, when you are weak He is strong. That is your supernatural-super-hero strength!!

So whether you need to be rescued or you need strength for your battle today in Him you have both!!

Will you trust Him today ?!

Love you friends!

Meditation

The word meditation has gotten a bad rap. Check this out...
The verse from Joshua 1:8 'Meditate on the word day and night' has freaked some people out and caused many others to feel hopeless in some way because how is that even possible?!
Some may believe they must sit down with their head continually in the bible day and night according to this verse.
Obviously we have a life to live, we have to go to work, earn a living, keep the children fed, clean, do laundry....well you get the idea. So how can all that be done if meditating on the word means to sit down and continually be reading it.
Let me challenge you with this thought.
Meditation is the same as worry, worry is just meditation on the negative, we can go through the entire day still being fully functional beings all the while worrying about something continually in our minds. What we do with that worry is think about it, break it down and even speak the worry to people around us.
So then it stands to reason that meditation as this verse reads is focusing on Jesus and yes His word, thinking about it, pondering it and speaking it.
For example you read a verse like 'I am writing to you, young people because He has given you the power to conquer the evil one. '1John 3:13 So now as you go about your day and a temptation comes your way you will think about this verse and say 'no I have been given the power to conquer the evil one' or ponder what that means to have been given the power to conquer. Or simply refocusing your thoughts on how much Jesus loves you if He was willing to die for you, is there anything else He wouldn't freely do for you?
It's amazing as we focus on His truth throughout the day how He reveals Himself in things big and small.
Meditation isn't a freaky new age word it is a God breathed word that allows you to focus your thoughts on Him and His thoughts towards you so that no matter what you face you can do it with His strength, His guidance and His power.
I don't know about you but that sounds a lot better than worrying to me.
So today as your mind leans towards worry realize that you are meditating on that which will bring about no possible good.
Instead choose to meditate on what God says about what you are facing. Spend some time each day reading a devotional (they usually have a verse attached to them if you find opening up the bible intimidating or don't know where to start) but even one verse, you can focus on that one verse and God can open up a whole new world to you!
He is so faithful and He is so good!!

(Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies. (Philippians 4:8, 9 MSG)

Have a great day friends!!

Does their Walk Look Different Than Yours? That's Okay!!

This phrase has been running through my mind all day....'Don't criticize someone else's life as a Christian because it looks different than yours.'
All too often I hear the remark "....and they call themselves a Christian" with an air of arrogance as if the person being talked about should live up to their standard of what a real Christian looks like.
Truth of the matter is we all fall short and we all have times and seasons where we stumble and fall.
I too have been guilty of placing judgment on someone else whether in my mind or verbally and it's awful!! So hearing this phrase echoing in my mind today was not only humbling but really got me thinking about how I perceive others.
We can't truly know what any person is facing or what they are walking through, what we see is just a glimpse of what they are actually facing.
What would it be like if we could be kind to one another, encourage always and look for a way to help someone else on their journey through life instead of pointing a critical finger.
We have the ultimate responsibility of being His hands and feet and extending love, kindness and compassion to those around us.
And if you happen to see something in someone else's life that you find 'concerning' take it as an opportunity to pray for them, bring it to Jesus, not your three closest friends = gossip.
It's amazing how many verses echoed in my mind along with this phrase, here are just a few of the verses. I pray that as you read them they encourage you to be a person of kindness, encouragement and love and at the very least they cause us all to think before we speak about someone else.

"If all you do is love the loveable, do you expect a bonus? Anybody can do that....In a word what I'm saying is grow up. You're kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you. " Matt 5:43-47 MSG

"Don't pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults -unless of course you want the same treatment. That critical spirit has a way of boomeranging." Matthew 7:1MSG

"Every time you criticize you condemn yourself. It takes one to know one. Judgmental criticism of others is a well-known way of escaping detection in your own crimes and misdemeanours. " Romans 2:2 MSG

"If there are corrections to be made or manners to be learned. God can handle that without your help. "
Romans 14:4 MSG

"God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. "
Ephesians 3:20, 21 MSG

"Make a clean break with all cutting, backbiting, profane talk. Be gentle with one another, sensitive." Ephesians 4:31 MSG

He Makes All Things Beautiful

When Conrad and I got married there were many that believed that we wouldn't last more than five years.
See we didn't have the beginning that most believed was a good way to start a marriage, we knew each other for seven months and we were pregnant with Noah. In many circles we were seen to have started in a negative way with Noah being a mistake. Harsh words right?! Those were words spoken right to my face.
Now I could look back and be angry and bitter towards people or I can look back and thank God for the journey that we have been on.
See here's the awesome thing about God, to Him it doesn't matter where you start it just matters that you do. To Him you are never to messed up to work with, it just matters that you trust Him and ask for help. To Him there is no such thing as a perfect beginning but with Him there is guaranteed to be a perfect ending!
Why do I share this with you today?! Because I really believe someone out there thinks they are too messed up to turn to God and that God doesn't really care about what they are facing.
That is so not true.
Just as my journey with Conrad through 16 years of marriage has been a journey with ups and downs, difficulties and triumphs God took what the world saw as possibly a hopeless beginning and wrote His own story on our lives and although our story is far from perfect and not over yet He is making it into something beautiful. Noah was never a mistake He is a beautiful representation of Gods unfailing love in our lives! God promises that there will be trouble along the way He also promises us that He is always with us and will never leave us and when we give our lives over to Him, His story in us begins.
What if we has believed the words that people spoke over our lives in those early days, where would we be now?! There will always be people who have an opinion about your life and are willing to point a finger at you but I want to encourage you that the opinion of the ONE is all that matters, and He loves you!
God wants to work something beautiful in and through your life, yes no matter where you are at now.
Whatever situation you are in, wherever you are at He sees you, knows you and loves you!!

Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit? to be out of your sight? If I climb to the sky, you’re there! If I go underground, you’re there! If I flew on morning’s wings to the far western horizon, You’d find me in a minute— you’re already there waiting! Then I said to myself, “Oh, he even sees me in the dark! At night I’m immersed in the light!” It’s a fact: darkness isn’t dark to you; night and day, darkness and light, they’re all the same to you. (Psalm 139:7-12 MSG)

Love you friends!
Have a great week!

Lay it All Down

Ever have those days when something is weighing so heavily on your mind and you feel anxious and burdened with worry?

I know I do and sometimes those times can feel suffocating.

It's easy to hear that we are supposed to lay our heaviness down at Jesus' feet and much harder to do somedays.

I beleive we have to make the choice to continually take the burden and lay it down, when the worry creeps in; lay it down. When the fear speaks so loudly it's ringing in your ears; lay it down. When doubt is staring you in the face that it seems hopeless; lay it down. When the anxious thoughts keep you awake at night; lay it down.

It isn't a one time event, our temptation is to continually pick up the burden and carry it because that sometimes seems easier than trusting God for a solution.

We may have to lay it down over and over and over again in a span of just a few minutes! It's the action of continually saying to God "I'm giving this to you." When we realize we are carrying it again, we repeat.

As we repeat this process I truly believe eventually the heaviness will lift and the peace will flow as we learn to trust Him more and more.

He does care and wants to lift your burdens for you!!

Will you join me in trusting Him today?! Repeat after me, " Lord I've tried to do this on my own long enough, you have a way where there seems to be no way, you have the answer, you have the provision, you care and know about every part of me and every struggle I am facing. I am laying _________________at your feet believing together we can face anything. I trust you today! I love you Jesus! Amen"

Repeat 100 times today if you need to, just keep casting your cares on Him because He does care for you!

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28 NIV)

Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; [I Pet. 5:7.]

“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you. That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you. (Isaiah 43:1-4 MSG)
