Stuck in the Past?

Do you feel stuck? Feel trapped in the past and don't know how to move forward? This is for you....
"Forget about what's happened;
don't keep going over old history.
Be alert, be present. I'm about to do something brand new.
It's bursting out! Don't you see it?
There it is! I'm making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands. "
Don't give up! Trust in and rely on Him with all your heart! He is making a way where there seems to be no way!
Be encouraged today, lift up your head and smile because the King of Kings sees you, knows you and loves you right where you are!
Love you friends! Have a great weekend.

A New Wardrobe

Imagine you've been given a designer wardrobe, whatever that dream label is for you.

I would be so excited, eager to try everything on and see how it fit and what it looked like and probably wouldn't hesitate to get rid of my old duds.

Did you know that when you give your life to Jesus you get an entirely new spiritual wardrobe? Yep check this out...'Now you're dressed in a new wardrobe. Every item custom made by the Creator with his label on it....So chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic all purpose garment. Never be without it.'Colossians 3:10-14

Just as if we got a real-life to the touch wardrobe we have to choose to put it on, the clothing doesn't jump out of our closet and onto our bodies each day(although that would be cool) we have to physically pick up our clothing and put it on.

The same is with the wardrobe we've been given by God we must choose to put on compassion and kindness, to forgive even when we don't feel like it, even discipline, it's something we can put on.

And love? Well what is one item that you put on daily and never go without? ..underwear possibly..well love is like underwear. It's your basic all purpose garment and we are told to never be without love.

That old wardrobe of meanness, irritability, bad temper, laziness, selfishness and gossip may suddenly begin to feel like an old itchy sweater when we continually put on our new custom made wardrobe.

Once we wear our new wardrobe a while it becomes more comfortable, less stiff and forced, pretty soon it fits like we've always worn it.

Here's the hope, after we put on our new wardrobe God is the best tailor around and he will help you with the fit, he will help you tailor your new wardrobe to your perfect size. You are never alone in this, he is with you every single step of the way.

Like a true tailor he knows that once you put on your new made-just-for-you wardrobe you won't want to take it off because of the difference you feel living life in the way he designed, it will truly fit and feel so much better than that old itchy sweater!!

Love you friends, don't forget to put on your new wardrobe today and go out and be a blessing!!!

Coming Home

Ever been away for any length of time and as much as it may have been nice to be away walking into your home you feel comfort and relief the moment you walk in.

I want to tell you coming to Jesus is just like coming home. He is there with arms open wide welcoming you with a big hug. If there are tears He wipes them away. If your chin is down and you feel hopeless He cups your chin in His hands and lifts your eyes up to hope. If you enter with a smile He smiles back at you face beaming with love.

If you knew someone was in your home ready to attack the moment you walked in, who would want to ever walk one...or you would walk in ready to fight. That is the way many view coming to Jesus, that He will just chastise you for everything you've done wrong and berate you with harsh tones.

The Jesus I've come to know and love, loves you with such an incredible love and compassion He wants to walk with you know matter how bad or how great your life is!

Trust Him today wherever you are at and swing the door open wide and come home to His love!!

Jesus is LOVE!

Here is what I like to do, if Jesus is love then you can place His name in the place of the word love in this scripture on love 1Corinthians 13;4-8 I pray you see Him in a whole new light today...

Jesus is patient, Jesus is kind.
He does not envy, He does not boast, He is not proud. He is not rude, He is not self-seeking, He is not easily angered, He keeps no record of wrongs. Jesus does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Jesus always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love you friends!

Your Real Name

~It amazes me how God can continually look past who we currently are and see who He has made us to be and who we are becoming. Yet loves us wholly right where we are.
A man, Gideon, filled with fear called by God a mighty warrior. A man who was without children, Abraham, in his old age, called by God a father. A man who would deny Jesus three times, Peter, being called a Rock on which Jesus would put together his church.
God truly sees who you are not who you feel you are...
Do you struggle with fear and condemnation? He sees an overcomer.
Do you struggle with chains of addiction? He sees you set free, chains broken.
Do you feel continually down about yourself feeling worthless? He sees you as his amazing wonderfully created child with an incredible future.
Do you feel weak and as though you can't go on another day? He sees you strong and victorious.
Our feelings most of the time do not line up with how He sees us!
So how do we transition from what we feel to who we really are, who He called us to be?
The same way Gideon, Abraham and Peter did, they put their complete trust in God to bring about the change in them, change only He could bring. I love how the verse in Romans 4 puts it 'Abraham was first named "father" and then became a father because he dared to trust God to do what only God could do.' And Matthew 16:18 to Peter 'I'm going to tell you who you are, really are. You Peter a rock.' I believe Jesus knew Abraham and Peter would doubt who they really were and what was promised and they could always remember these words being spoken to them in those times of doubt.
Isn't that awesome?
So whatever you feel about yourself today, you can dare to trust God.
Ask God to give you a new picture of who you really are.
Take time to study the Bible, it can begin to paint a new picture on your heart of who God made you to be. It can help you to overcome those feelings about yourself!
Here are some verses,great places to start;
Psalm 139:1-4 and 13-16
Jeremiah 29:11
Ephesians 2:10, 2:19
1 John 3:1
Matthew 5:14
I hope you feel encouraged today friends and know that you are more than you feel and God knows your name, your real name, and He calls you by it even now!!
Dare to trust Him today to bring about change in any area of your life that you feel defeated!

Heaven's Poetry

When I woke up this morning and looked in the mirror that last thing I thought was 'Wow Louise you are heavens poetry put here on earth to do great things.'
So imagine my surprise when I came across this verse that I want to share with you...Ephesians 2:10
'For we are the product of His hand, heavens poetry etched on lives created in Jesus to accomplish the good works God arranged long ago.'

Crazy eh?!

Heaven's poetry...what amazing words so I decided to look at the definition on poetry to break it down a bit more and here's what I got and if I insert the definition into the verse here is what it reads...'For we are the product of His hand, heaven's rhythmical composition, written or spoken, for exciting pleasure by beautiful, imaginative, or elevated thoughts created in Jesus to accomplish the good works God arranged long ago.'

How can one possibly read that and not feel special?!

No matter what the circumstance of your birth was YOU are heaven's poetry and you are here for GOOD works.
God has prepared good for you to do long ago!
Imagine the difference you can make!
I encourage you to look at yourself today as heavens poetry someone God made incredibly special to accomplish some wonderful works here on earth.
If you are unsure whether or not you are on the right path...freely ask and he will guide and direct you!
I hope you all feel especially special this morning with a knowing that you were made for so much more than you ever dreamed possible!!

Prayer can sometimes be an intimidating thing for people. If you are like me you probably think you don't pray 'enough'...but according to who right?! I know for myself it's more of a conversation regularly with God but sometimes I like to pray the word over my kids and loved ones.

So today I want to do something a bit different and give you a couple of prayers I use from the word that you can pray for your children, your spouse, any loved one or even yourself. Copy and paste them, print them out, put them on your mirror or wherever you can see them to remind you to pray these simple yet powerful prayers over those you love!!

God of our Lord Jesus : I call out to You on behalf of ( insert name). Give them minds ready to receive wisdom and revelation so they will truly know You. Open the eyes of their hearts, and let the light of Your truth flood in. Shine Your light in the hope You are calling them to embrace. Reveal to them the glorious riches You are preparing as their inheritance. Let them see the full extent of Your power that is at work in those who believe and may it be done according to Your might and power.
Ephesians 1:17-19

Father out of Your honourable and glorious riches, strengthen ( insert name). Fill their souls with the power of Your Spirit so that through faith the Anointed One will reside in their hearts. May love be the rich soil where their lives take root. May it be the bedrock where their lives are founded. So that together with all your people they will have the power to understand that the love of Jesus is infinitely long, wide, high, and deep, surpassing everything and anyone previously experienced. God may your fullness flood through their entire beings.
Ephesians 3:16-19

No matter what don't take on the guilt of 'not praying enough.' Trust that he hears even the simplest of prayers, a groan, a sigh, His name...whatever and however you pray He hears you and loves you today!!
Love you friends!!

Always Near

Today began like any other day I walk to the kitchen grab my coffee; Rex my dog right behind me, go sit down in the sunroom; Rex gets cozy too, go to the office to do some work; Rex follows, go take a shower, Rex sits on the floor mat.

Can you see the trend?
Everywhere I go he goes.

Then as I was leaving the house Rex just stared at me waiting for the invitation to join me on my drive which never came and as I backed off my driveway there he was sitting in the window watching me leave.

So the whole time this was happening I was thinking about my relationship with Jesus and how I need to stay near and I should never be far away from him wherever he goes I should go and then as I was backing off the driveway in my mind that's where the parallel ended as I saw Rex's face in the window because now I was leaving him behind.

That's when I felt Jesus speaking to me so incredibly strong "That's not where the parallel ends, see I am with you wherever you go...I am right beside you here in the car and we are going for a ride. Everywhere you go I go."

As I looked beside me I could sense his overwhelming presence and all I could do was weep. Through the tears, trying to see the road it I couldn't believe he showed up just to say I love you and let me know that he is ALWAYS with me.

Honestly it's not often I 'feel' his presence in such a tangible way but again it was such a great reminder for me that no matter how I "feel" he is always with me.

I am not a special person that God has uniquely chosen to reveal himself to, what he does for me I know he wants to do for you!!!

He is truly with you wherever you go and again I pray that you can feel his tangible presence with you today!!

You are loved!!

Dry Bones

God is not only the creator of life but the great restorer of life as well.

Is there an area of your life that has dried up?
An area that you feel as though you have lost all hope?
Then this is for you today!

God is in the business of restoring hope to you in any area of your life. Love the passage in Ezekiel where it says "Our bones are dry now, picked clean by scavengers. All hope is gone." To which God replies "I will breathe my spirit, my life into you and you will be alive once again."

He said it then and he is saying it now. He sees the area that you are struggling with and wants to breathe his life into that situation.

So often we can think that something is too small for God to care about or it's too big of a problem for anything to change, that is not true at all, here is a simple truth...if you care about it, he cares about it.

He wants to be a part of every area of your life big or small.

So if you've lost hope that anything will happen be assured that God wants to speak life to your dryness and bring it up fully alive!!

Trust in him today!

Whether you know it or not he has been right beside you this whole time, invite him into your situation and I guarantee hope will begin to flicker again!!

Love you friends!

Have a great day!!

You are Loved

We live in a society where loneliness, hurt and heartache is so evident. We can be in a room crowded with people and still feel so alone and like we don't matter. I want to encourage you today give you some are not alone, you will never be alone and you are so loved.
I want to share a few verses with you and if you are feeling lonely and lost today I pray that God speaks to you directly through these verses and wraps his arms of love and peace around you and that you absolutely feel his presence today!!!

'God, investigate my life; get all the facts firsthand. I’m an open book to you; even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking.
You know when I leave and when I get back; I’m never out of your sight. You know everything I’m going to say before I start the first sentence.
I look behind me and you’re there, then up ahead and you’re there, too— your reassuring presence, coming and going.
This is too much, too wonderful— I can’t take it all in!
Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit? to be out of your sight? If I climb to the sky, you’re there!
If I go underground, you’re there!
If I flew on morning’s wings to the far western horizon, You’d find me in a minute— you’re already there waiting!
Then I said to myself, “Oh, he even sees me in the dark! At night I’m immersed in the light!”
It's a fact: darkness isn’t dark to you; night and day, darkness and light, they’re all the same to you.
Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.
Your thoughts—how rare, how beautiful! God, I’ll never comprehend them!
I couldn’t even begin to count them— any more than I could count the sand of the sea.
Oh, let me rise in the morning and live always with you!'

Psalm 139:1-17

I pray you feel and know you are loved today!!!

Tests and Hardships...Arghhh

To be perfectly honest there is a verse that has always bugged me here it is 'Don't run from tests and hardships brothers and sisters.' ...Can you see why ?! I think human nature is to run from problems because honestly hardships and tests are not fun!!

Yet here I was confronted with this verse again so I decided to take it all in once again, the verse doesn't stop there it goes on to say this 'As difficult as they are, you will ultimately find joy in them'....well this threw me for a bit of a loop I mean find joy in my hardships and tests?

I seem to find an abundance of sadness, worry and frustration. So I decided to look up the definition of the word 'ultimately' here is what I found; eventually, in the long run, at length, finally, sooner or later, in the fullness of time, when all is said and done etc.

So when I put that definition together with the verse it reads like this 'Don't run from tests and hardships as difficult as they are because when all is said and done you will find joy in them'(Louise paraphrase).

So I realized that yeah the hardships and trials can be incredibly difficult but ultimately God's story, his hope prevails!!

Your mess can become your message, your test can become your testimony and your problem can become your purpose!!!

So here's my encouragement for you....stick with it whatever your hardship or trial is, whether it's relationship difficulty, marriage hurts, a child who has turned their back on you, a parent who has disowned you, disappointment, loss, financial lack, sickness...whatever your 'it' is with God as your guide you can come through this shining as a beacon of hope for others around you!!

Believe me when I say I'm trying to encourage myself here too....we've all got 'stuff'!!

It may be difficult now but let's trust and put our hope in God that ULTIMATELY we will rise above this stronger than we ever imagined possible!!

Keep on keepin on!!

Love you friends!!!

What a Mess

Lessons truly can be learned in the strangest of places!! After a few too many Christmas meals my dog Rex had to be let outside at 3am one morning so still somewhat asleep my husband let Rex outside to do his ‘duty’. Well upon returning into the house he must have stepped ‘in it’ and then proceeded to leave a trail of ‘duty’ behind him before my husband realized what had happened.
Needless to say this smelt awful and what a mess to clean up!!
So while my hubby gave Rex a bath I started to clean up this stinky messy trail which went across mostly hardwood, thankfully, but also across clothing and a bit of carpet. As I was cleaning I had a realization (definitely not my own) that people can be the same as my dog Rex. They step into their own messes from the past, whether bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness, bad attitude whatever it may be and they carry it with them into the present, sometimes unknowingly. It then contaminates the world around them. It can leave a trail of broken relationships, a world filled with loneliness and can leave people cold and hardhearted.
Here’s the message of hope in all this, Rex was powerless to clean up the mess himself, there was no way for him to clean up the trail he left behind let alone his own paw where the ‘mess’ sat, his master was the only one that could help him.
It’s the same with you and I, we are powerless to wipe out bitterness, unforgiveness, resentment, anger and bad attitudes on our own power, but we serve a gracious and loving master who the moment we ask gets to work on our behalf working within us to help resolve the issues that lie deep within. When the issues are being resolved with the master he gives us the power to walk around without contaminating the world around us.
He loves us too much to much to leave us contaminating the world around us with what should be left behind!!
I can think of no better way to start 2014 than trusting him to help me with a mess I’ve been trying to clean up on my own for far too long.
Will you join me in trusting him with your mess today?

‘GOD made my life complete
when I placed all the pieces before him.
When I got my act together,
he gave me a fresh start.
Now I’m alert to GOD’s ways;
I don’t take God for granted.
Every day I review the ways he works;
I try not to miss a trick.
I feel put back together,
and I’m watching my step.
GOD rewrote the text of my life
when I opened the book of my heart to his eyes.’
Psalm 18:20-24
