Celebrating Differences......
As of late I have come across many different circumstances, some my own, some a friends' where there is comparison happening. Where body types are compared as equal, where one person takes great pride in having a clean house all the time passing judgement on someone who cleans their house but isn't obsessed about it, to different opportunities one person has as opposed to someone else, where someone is eating more or less than someone else, where someone has nicer clothes than someone else, where someone has a different gift than someone else, where someone has a higher paying job than someone else...etc etc the list could go on and on....I just want to stand up and scream..STOP!!! this is enough!! Aren't we all trying to teach our children that different is okay and that we all have unique individual personalities and God created us each with our own unique abilities and gifts...and yet here are all the crazy adults in their life trying so desperately to be like "everyone" else!! I think it is time, especially women..to stand up and celebrate our differences instead of comparing ourselves with someone else or dragging someone else down to make us feel better about ourselves.....if we were all the same and all enjoyed the same things or all looked the same or ate the same etc etc life would be SO boring!! So instead of putting someone else down for the way they look or act or the way they do things find something positive in THEM and CELEBRATE !! Even though we may be working towards different things in our lives we all have something to be thankful for.....so when can this comparison thing stop!!??!! Come on ladies(and the occasional man that reads my blog) DO I HEAR AN AMEN??!!
Romans 12:6 God in his kindness gave each of us different gifts. If your gift is speaking God's word, make sure what you say agrees with the Christian faith. 7 If your gift is serving, then devote yourself to serving. If it is teaching, devote yourself to teaching. 8 If it is encouraging others, devote yourself to giving encouragement. If it is sharing, be generous. If is is leadership, lead enthusiastically. If it is helping people in need, help them cheerfully. 9 Love sincerely. Hate evil. Hold on to what is good. 10 be devoted to each other like a loving family. Excel in showing respect for each other.

AMEN!
We are up against it! The enemy wants nothing more than to see us walk down this path of destruction. Do not covet . . .
God knows best. Your post drove this home for me. All of this behaviour is coveting.
SAM just said the other night how important it is that we be happy with ourselves and our own circumstances. When we start to compare we are really getting into dangerous waters.
Thanks Louise for your boldness. I love it. Makes me think which I like even more.

Wow, no kidding...this exactly how I've been feeling the last couple of years. AMEN AMEN AMEN! There are so many more important "things" in life than being skinny or having a clean house or having a new car, new house, new clothes... it never ends. We as women need to smarten up and change the way we see and do things, celebrate and accept who we are, and work on what we can do for others rather than what they can do for us.
